AIR Studio + Gallery announces a new show, "In the Name of Living", featuring the art of local artist, Azadeh Hussaini, an Iranian-American visual artist, art educator, and curator based in Chicago, Illinois. Her featured work includes sculptures and paintings on view from March 13 through April 9, 2026 at AIR Gallery, 348 Tudor Court, Glencoe, Illinois. The opening event is Sunday, March 15, 3:00-5:00PM at AIR Gallery.
Since 2015, Azadeh Hussaini's practice has expanded from painting into diverse media, including installation, drawing, and sculpture. Her work explores themes of identity, displacement, shared human experience, and social justice. Her personal experiences of displacement, alongside social and class struggle concerns, have significantly influenced her choice of materials and modes of presentation.
Hussaini often works with recycled materials such as newspapers, paper, cardboard, and natural fibers and thread materials she considers carrying layers of history and time. Through reassembly, these materials create spaces where human experiences and memories can be revisited and reinterpreted.
Her work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the United States and abroad, including the Highland Park Art Center and Evanston Art Center. Hussaini views the exhibition of her work as an opportunity for dialogue and for fostering inquiry and reflection among audiences.
