Jackie Schomburg's Debut Solo Show: "An Exercise in Letting Go"

AIR Gallery is thrilled to debut AIR member Jackie Schomburg's new solo show, "An Exercise in Letting Go." Running from April 12 through May 10, the opening event is Saturday, April 26, 5:00-7:00PM at AIR Gallery, 348 Tudor Court, Glencoe. All are welcome!

"This body of work is a love letter to the parts of us that are still becoming. Created through an intuitive, process-based approach, these abstract paintings invite us to release the need for polished outcomes and instead trust what unfolds. Each piece began without a plan—just a willingness to show up, follow curiosity, and respond to color, shape, and texture in the moment. Built in layers of paint, collage, and mark-making, the works reflect what it feels like to move through uncertainty with presence and permission, rather than control.

"These pieces hold themes of identity, emotional freedom, and the slow, gentle work of reconnecting with the self. I create in the same way I encourage others to: bravely, imperfectly, and with the belief that creativity is a form of wellness. The layers—what we add, cover, or choose to keep—mirror our own. What’s underneath never fully disappears; it becomes part of the history and depth of the final piece. I hope these paintings invite you to pause, breathe, and maybe even let go—just a little."
