Sandie Bacon
 
Bio
Sandie Bacon is an award-winning artist known for her versatility from classic drawing and painting, to fine arts mixed media, collaborative sculpture and monumental murals. With a master’s degree from Maryland Institute Graduate School of Painting, Sandie has shown in galleries internationally, is in many corporate collections and has numerous commissions for public art.

She is an alumna of the selective Golden Paints Working Artist Program, trained in acrylic, oil and watercolor paints. As a regional representative she conducted workshops throughout the Midwest at colleges, art stores and artist groups.
Sandie has served on the advisory board of City Arts Workshop in NYC, the Chicago Women's Caucus for the Arts and is currently president of Artists on the Bluff.
 
Statement
I am interested in the idea of spiritual “treasure” -- protecting the vulnerable because, once gone, the environment will never be the same. My influences are myths, literature, nature, and popular culture.

I like to work with bright, clean colors and create the illusion of distance in the picture plane. My mural work helps me think in terms of creating environments. 

I am also intrigued by materials and the vocabulary that is created from the earthiness of charcoal, the textures of acrylic gels and pastes, as well as the emotions that found materials evoke.
