Learn about Gyotaku (éšæ‹“)— a traditional Japanese printmaking method where real fish are used to create beautiful, detailed prints. We’ll share a quick bit of history, then demonstrate the process on rice paper and fabric. After that, you’ll get hands-on time printing with both rubber practice fish and real fish, learning how to ink and transfer every scale and contour. Co-taught by Aris Buechele and Anoush Bargamian, this is a relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop that’s a little messy and a lot of fun. You’ll leave with your own unique prints and a new appreciation for the natural patterns in fish.
