Peggy Schutze Shearn is a self-taught Chicago area painter whose work incorporates letterforms, abstract calligraphy and text into colorful semi-abstractions. Her most recent work begins with words which are then lost, to one extent or another, beneath an irregular topography of thickened pigment.
